Children’s privacy

Last updated: October 7, 2026

Who this is for

This notice is for parents and guardians. It explains what happens when a child under 13 wants an NYC-MON account, under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule (16 CFR Part 312).

The age gate

Before an account can be created, the app asks for a birth year — a year only, not a full date of birth. A year that means the Caller is under 13 starts the consent path instead of an account.

There is no under-13 account without a parent or guardian’s yes. The child enters your email address, and we send you one message explaining what the account holds, with approve and decline links.

Say no, or never answer, and we delete your address and everything saved with the request. In the game the child’s Mon goes to stay with Dr. Santoro, so they never see that Mon deleted.

What we keep for a child

With your consent, the account keeps the same three things as any Caller’s: the consenting email, the Caller name the child picks and the birth year, plus their Mon and that Mon’s progress. Nothing else is asked of a child.

What you can do

You can review what the account holds, withdraw consent, or ask for the account and its data to be deleted. Reply to your consent email from the address we wrote to, and the request reaches the team.

No ads to children

Children see no advertising in NYC-MON — not behavioural, not contextual, not ever. The one notification the game sends is scheduled by the phone itself when an egg is ready.

Talk to us

Anything about your child’s account: reply to the consent email, or use the support address shown in the app. If you believe a child has an account without your consent, tell us and we will delete it.
